Anosh Ahmed shares how you should invest in your health: When it comes to caffeine consumption, less is more. High caffeine intakes result in poor sleep and can raise blood pressure and heart rate. Exercise is secondary to calorie restriction when it comes to losing weight, but everyone must reach optimal cardiac health to prevent future heart attacks and strokes. One of the best ways to start an exercise regimen that works is to walk 15 minutes a day. Gradually increase this until you are walking 10,000 steps per day or the equivalent of 5 miles. You can get these steps in as part of your daily routine or commit to going on walks. If you do not regularly get outside, treadmills are sufficient, along with gym exercise.

Dr. Anosh Ahmed is a practicing internal medicine physician and active member of his local community. What is your biggest accomplishment? Getting my medical degree and being an actual, licensed physician has been a big accomplishment for me, but I also think just being able to have a stable family was more important. I look back at the fact that at the age of eight we were eating ten-cent cheeseburgers at McDonald’s and trying to make ends meet. Finding a way to stabilize the family home and for me to put my brothers through school and college meant so much. I think that’s probably my proudest achievement.
