PC fixing? Avoid downloading any programs that claim to speed up your computer. These are nearly all scams or vehicles for adware. You can boost your computer’s speed on your own without the help of these programs. Close any programs that you aren’t using. The more programs you have running on your computer at once, the slower it will run. Your operating system will often load several programs in the background when it starts as well. In Windows, a lot of the programs running in the background will have icons in your System Tray. Right-click on these icons to close the programs.

Use Anti-Virus Protection & Firewall. Anti-virus (AV) protection software has been the most prevalent solution to fight malicious attacks. AV software blocks malware and other malicious viruses from entering your device and compromising your data. Use anti-virus software from trusted vendors and only run one AV tool on your device. Using a firewall is also important when defending your data against malicious attacks. A firewall helps screen out hackers, viruses, and other malicious activity that occurs over the Internet and determines what traffic is allowed to enter your device. Windows and Mac OS X comes with their respective firewalls, aptly named Windows Firewall and Mac Firewall. Your router should also have a firewall built in to prevent attacks on your network.

Use Multiple Authentication Methods. Authentication is the act of confirming an identity (whether a user, machine, or device) by comparing provided credentials against an existing database of authorized identities before allowing access to a given system or application. For example, think of entering your username and password before gaining access to your email account. However, rather than relying on passwords alone, which have grown increasingly unreliable, we recommend using multiple factors for the authentication process. Authentication factors include something you know (e.g. username/password, answer to security question), something you have (e.g. Digital Certificate, smart card), and something you are (e.g. fingerprint, facial recognition).

Windows 10 network cameras support: Another best feature available with Windows 10 version 2004 is native support for network cameras to make it easier for developers to build security and machine learning video analytics solutions. The new support will allow easy discovery, pairing, configuration, and streaming of TCP/IP-enabled for major ONVIF Profile S compliant camera brands. Also, developers will be able to stream from a given RTSP Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) through the same Windows camera APIs. And they’ll also be able to take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) services and features to create high performance end-to-end security solutions, including for common surveillance scenarios like people detection or face sentiment analysis. Pairing Bluetooth hardware can be an issue, and Microsoft is trying to simplify the process in this Windows release. If you’ve got Bluetooth hardware that supports Microsoft’s Swift Pair, put the device in pairing mode, bring it close to your PC, and you get a notification popup that shows the device that’s trying to pair. All you need to do is click and your PC and device are connected. Wireless and wired networks get some tweaks, too, with more useful network status information. You can see all available connection interfaces on the Status page with integrated data usage and the single one in use at the top. If you need to block updates it’s easy to quickly use this view to mark a connection as metered.

Note that you should beware of those “Speed Up Your PC!” ads for registry cleaners, which often lead to malware. Microsoft categorically does not support the use of registry cleaners for Windows 10. Something that is recommended is keeping your OS version up to date. This seems perhaps a bit too obvious to include below as a separate step. Periodically head to the Settings app’s Windows Update section to see whether there are any security and reliability updates you should install. Your PC may run faster after one of these, since they also can include hardware driver updates. Do this even if you don’t want yet want a big feature update—you can delay those major updates in the same section of Settings. See extra info at Computer repair.
