Stretching across the Avon Gorge and the River Avon in Bristol, this masterpiece of Victorian engineering was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel when he was just 24 years-old. Construction began in 1831 and after several setbacks, the bridge finally opened in 1864. Despite being designed for horse and carts, it’s still in use, with thousands of vehicles typically crossing the bridge every day. The London Eye was a controversial addition to the English capital’s skyline when it first opened on the South Bank in 1999, but today the city is unimaginable without this giant Ferris wheel twirling above the Thames. It has 32 capsules representing the city’s boroughs that can each hold up to 25 people as it loops around, offering up incredible 360° views of London’s sprawl. The structure is now world-famous as the backdrop for the capital’s spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

A riverside titan of arts and entertainment, the Southbank Centre includes three major venues – of which, the Hayward Gallery is now open again. Its typically loaded events programme is paused, but it’s still great for a visit. Munch on vegan cake at the food market or pick up a rare first edition at the bookstalls. You could even go next door to take in a play at the National Theatre, which reboots in October. While you’re there, head along the South Bank to the Globe and gawp at the hallowed Shakespearian playhouse – still currently closed to die-hard Bard lovers.

Before you arrive at Heathrow Airport, you can take advantage of the shopping opportunity by shopping online before you go. This way you can reserve and collect your items when you arrive. Imagine you sit down and order your food. You’re still waiting after 30 minutes. This annoying in any restaurant experience, however, when the time is of the essence, it may mean you go hungry. That’s why you need to check out the 15-minute menu symbols. Restaurants which display this symbol are committed to bringing you your meal in under 15 minutes.

The incredible Eden Project is a collection of unique artificial biomes containing an amazing collection of plants from around the world. Located in a reclaimed quarry in Cornwall, this spectacular botanical gardens complex consists of huge domes that look rather like massive igloo-shaped greenhouses. Each of these impressive (and futuristic-looking) buildings houses thousands of different plant species in tropical and Mediterranean environments. As well as these stunning displays of plant life, the Eden Project hosts numerous arts and music events year-round. If you’re able to extend your visit, consider booking a stay at the on-site hostel, or enjoy a meal in one of its restaurants. Adventure activities such as ziplining and giant swings are also available. Read extra information at Airpor Taxis Redruth.

OH MY GOD. When you arrive in the South Terminal make a beeline for the bathrooms on the right just before you hit Boots and M&S. They are incredible! Basically each stall has its own sink, hand drier, and little storage area. They are HUGE. I’m 99.9% sure that some of them are bigger than most London apartments. I know it’s a little weird to be so impressed with a bathroom, but I have a tiny bladder so I always pay attention to them. Good job to whoever designed these! I loved the TV, it’s in the wall at the foot of the bed so it makes it super cosy and enclosed. You can book rooms for just 4hrs if you have a transfer, or as long as you need. Standard cabins start from £37 per night.
